No comments on June 27th: Today was marked by a series of “incidents.” Here’s what was reported from the scene by Stewart C: “The whole story: Upon arrival at lower gate to Hooker entrance the state police police said that that entrance was closed until further notice because they were receiving new X-ray screening equipment and they would not be opening it until it was up and running that required installation inspection and training of staff so … quite some time. So we setup at Ashburton entrance as we have many times. Charlie and I had brought a lot. It was great because there were so many people in line to get in so we setup and handed out flyers to the long long line of people entering. As you can see we were in our typical Ashburton configuration on multi layers facing the street. We had just really fully completed the setup when a very angry woman began insisting that we were disrespecting the memorial and had to immediately pack up. We told her precedents and that we had no disrespect in mind. We began to move our setup to be completely on the sidewalk level. She was so wound up that she started grabbing our stuff. We asked her to stop but she got even more wound up and started manipulating those tall freestanding banner. One while Charlie was working to move it. This became a tussle. This is when the Memorial security police arrived. The woman backed off. They told us that we had to leave. We told them the state police who controls Hooker had given us direction and permission. And that Chris the State Police guy had talked with us enthusiastically as we set up. We told them of the many time in the past that we had done this exact same setup. To no avail! They said the director in charge of the memorial plaza has declared that we must leave the plaza completely. We said we want to talk to him/her now but they said we could make a complaint but we had to leave now . They then told us that the Hooker was reopened and we could set up there. So we packed up and setup at Hooker.”
